Cultural Tips for July 2015


July is the traditional month for festivals. We chose two best ones just for you. The first one is a musical Bohemia Jazz Fest and the second one focuses on „Street Food“. If by any chance the summer rain catches you, don’t worry, we have two different types of exhibitions that will come forth.

The Street Food Festival is a non traditional gastronomical festival which presents „Street Food“. Therefore, simple, intelligible assortment of friendly prices that is inspired by the interesting foreign street food (first galetka and crepes, grand pork in a bun, hamburger, pizza, tacos, falafel, sandwiches, soups and sushi or Pho as well), or enhencements of local street food.

From Monday, July 13 to Wedneday July 15 / Staromestske namesti, Praha 1

This is the tenth year of the Jazz festival which represent the best jazz from the Czech Republic and other international countries of the Historic places in Czech cities. In the Prague part of the festival you can be excited and get ready for the Terence Blancharda, who have won many Grammy Awards or an American guitar player, Bill Frisell.

This is an exhibition collection of Prague from the 60’s in hundreds of black and white photographs. You are able to look at the 20th century in two ways. The first one is looking at the genre of pictures from Prague’s streets and its public places. Second is the main idea of the photographs in the social documentary and culture (every day life) on popular music theatres profiles back then with a suplement of their protagonist portraits and the atmosphere of their imagination.

This exhibition is dedicated , Henry Rousseau who represents his favorite topics like fantastic landscapes, characters and still life. They will be mentioned in the context with pictures from other artists like Pablo Picasso, Frida Kahlo, Diego Rivera, Carlo Carra, Paula Modersohn-Becker etc.
